Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) was the Renaissance humanist ideal. This means he did almost everything.
But I'm gonna focus only on his paintings and sketches, as this is what interests me the most.

Andrea Palladio

Andrea Palladio (1508-1580) was an Italian architect working in the Republic of Venice. He was influenced by Roman and Greek architecture. He gained popularity in England when his work The Four Books of Architecture was released there in early 18th Century. He was an inspiration for architects and artist form Classicism, and he even has his own style called Palladian architecture.(the classicism architecture). His most important works: Villa Barbaro, Villa Capra "La Rotonda", Basilica Palladiana, Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, Il Redentore and Teatro Olimpico. Also the city of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Frédéric Soulacroix

Frédéric Soulacroix (1858 - 1933) was an Italian painter, although his father Charles Soulacroix was well-known French sculptor and painter.

.Well I hope that his works were less "boring" than in the few previous posts.;> I don't know, but they were all like almost the same, but still very pretty. I'll try to find something more interesting the next time. Because of course it's fun to look at all those beautiful ladies, dressed in wonderful clothes, but after some time it might get slightly boring, don't you think. A short break may do some good.;>

Giovanni Segantini

Although I wanted the first post to be about Picasso, I deciced to write about Giovanni Segantini. He was an Italian painter. Born 1858 died 1899, he didn't live very long, but even though he was one of the most famous painters in Europe through the 19th century. He's best know for his landscapes of the Alps.

"I am now working passionately in order to wrest the secret of Nature's spirit from her. Nature utters the eternal word to the artist: love, love; and the earth sings life in spring, and the soul of things reawakens." (Segantinis words after moving to the mountains.)

L'angelo della vita (1894)
This is the work that captured my attention. I really like it, even though it may seem a little bit grey, the colours are just perfect, of course they are not bright, I'd even say they look a little bit dirty but that makes the atmosphere of this painting.

Afternoon in the Alps
I quite like the way in which these 3 paintings are painted.
